VitVio partners with Hospital Español de Veracruz to power Mexico's first 3D AI-powered operating rooms

VERACRUZ, MEXICO, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- VitVio has partnered with Hospital Español de Veracruz to bring Vetro – the world’s only 3D-native, AI-powered surgical operating system – to Mexico for the first time.

Ranked Mexico's best mid-sized private hospital in 2025, Hospital Español de Veracruz is part of Grupo Hospital Español. VitVio’s technology will be rolled out across all the hospital’s operating rooms with Vetro’s multi-sensor ambient AI platform.

The system feeds continuous 3D data to VitVio's Spatial Context Engine, building a live geometric model of each room including people, equipment and activity. From this Vetro’s AI agents can handle all routine and admin tasks related to a surgery including automatically flagging delays to coordinating staff between patients, tracking instrument use to cut waste, and generating operative notes in real time. Vetro’s outputs describe cases, phases and equipment, rather than individuals, and data is de-identified by design.

This deep spatial context means Vetro works as an operating system for the whole environment rather than as a point solution for a single task. As such, it can reduce the burden across the full patient journey, giving clinical teams more time with patients and getting more people into surgery sooner.

The deployment at Hospital Español de Veracruz is the first step in a wider plan to bring AI into up to 60 operating rooms across seven Grupo Hospital Español hospitals as Mexico moves to modernise its hospitals with AI nationwide.

Dr Antonio Ramos-De la Medina, CEO, Hospital Español de Veracruz, said: “Mexico is modernising its hospitals with AI, and we want to lead that. We're the first hospital in the country, and the entirety of Latin America, to bring 3D-native AI into the operating room at this level. For us, this is about giving our teams time back to focus on patient care and safety."

Thomas Knox, Co-Founder and CEO, VitVio, said: "From our first conversation, Dr Ramos and his team knew what they wanted their operating rooms to become and aligned perfectly with our vision at VitVio. They are one of the most innovative and forward-thinking teams we have met, and their conviction took us from that conversation to go-live in under three months. Hospital Español de Veracruz is leading how hospitals globally think about care delivery, and we are proud to be alongside them."

Hospital Español de Veracruz is the latest in a growing number of VitVio deployments across the US, Europe and the UK. Two years after launching, the company is working with leading cancer and orthopaedic centres in New York and UCK Gdańsk. In July, VitVio opened access to Vetro for hospitals and health systems across the US, Europe, Latin America, the UK and the Middle East and further announcements are due to follow in the coming months.

About VitVio
VitVio uses computer vision and ambient sensing to digitise operating rooms in 3D, in real time, providing clarity on who is doing what, when, where and why during surgery. AI agents then handle the routine tasks – automatically logging surgical phases, coordinating staff, preparing operative notes and flagging delays – so that clinicians can focus on what matters most, the patient. Founded in 2024 by Thomas Knox (CEO), Dr Peter Rennert (CTO), Maks Kozarzewski (COO) and Aleks Pajewski (CPO), VitVio has raised $10M in total funding, including an $8M seed round closed in October 2025 led by Bek Ventures. The company operates across the US and Europe. www.vitvio.com
